OPI Shaatter Review

Two weeks ago I bought a new OPI Nail Lacquer that is all the rage. And now, I see why. OPI Shatter is a nail lacquer that is added to freshly painted nails, that then begins to break away from itself, making cracks and spaces where the nail lacquer from underneath can be seen.

After you have painted your nails with the desired nail lacquer, [I would recommend using a lighter color underneath, the lighter the color the more it will stand out against Shatter], and your nails are dry, paint a light coat of OPI Shatter over top. Take caution to make sure the coast of OPI Shatter is light, too heavy of a coat and the product will not crack properly. As soon as you have painted each nail, blow on it slightly, this will activate Shatter to start doing it’s magic. And don’t be discouraged if it takes you a few tries to get the technique down, it took me 3 fingernails to get the technique down. One of the upsides to OPI Shatter, in addition to just looking really cool, it dries very quickly allowing you to put a top coat over top. Another upside is that Shatter actually helps to keep your polish underneath in place.

Getting the Most from Your Manicure

It’s obviously important to have clean nails to start yourself off. Remember there is a difference between a top coat and a base coat, and apply a base coat to your nails. When that is totally dry, apply one short coat to your nails, followed by another, [once the first coat is dry].

If you apply one heavy coat instead of two short coats, your nails will basically never dry, become tacky and be more prone to chips and dings.

When your nails have dried completely from both coats of lacquer, apply top coat, and be sure you can be still for 10-15 minutes. If you wait this amount of time, it gives your manicure time to fully set so it can stay in place for you! If I do this, through dishes, gardening and house work, my manicure will stay in-tact for at least 3-4 days.

I would recommend Rimmel London Base Coat – Top Coat PRO, & Revlon Extra Life No Chip Top Coat, both of which can be found at your local drugstore. My nail lacquer collection ranges from the well-respected OPI, to Revlon, to the $1.99 brand, Sinful Colors. All of these brands come at different prices, but work the same as far as staying power, relatively. I have found the key to be finding a good top coat. I love dark colors, they make your manicure stand out. My 3 Revlon faves are No. 795 Devilish [dark red, color of dried blood], Lunar [Black], & No. 826 Perplex [new color this season, almost an army green mixed with purple].  I have also discovered OPI Shatter, which is also a great product I would recommend, review coming next!

Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup

Mineral Makeup. The name says so much. There is almost this security blanket that comes with mineral makeup, there is just something about it, that makes a woman feel and look more natural. Just about every makeup company is doing Mineral Makeup now. Within these last few months Revlon has come out with a mineral makeup of their own, [Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup] to compete with the other makeup companies breaking into the mineral makeup world. Unlike some of Revlonâs competitors, it contains a surprisingly wonderful amount of product, comes complete with its own brush, and is super-easy to apply. With the first stroke of the brush, you feel an instant rush of unbelievable moisture, caused by the addition of coconut water to the makeup formula. Once you are done applying, your face feels light, moisturized, and as if you should put more makeup on, because it doesnât feel as though you are wearing any. Revlon Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup, like all Colorstay products, is meant for all day wear, and it does just that, in addition to offering SPF 13. Instead of that caked on feeling, Revlonâs Colorstay Aqua Mineral Makeup gives you a light dusting that stays in place and lasts all day!
